Idle hands do the Devil's work.

Argghhh

I woke up today and it had already been a long week...  It's Tuesday and all I really want to do is jump in my car and drive back to Texas and ignore the rest of the world for a good long while (except Alice).
But that's not really true.  I just don't want to work today.  Yesterday I managed well with that.  The first half of the day I updated my blog as you may be able to tell.  The second half I did real work, editing a memo I've been working on for the last 2 weeks it seems.  It has now become the $400 memo given what they are paying me and how much I've been working on it.  I wrote it originally and sent it to my supervisor, she gave me edits to make, I made them.  She sent it back with more edits, I made them.
Now at this point, I thought it was looking pretty sharp.  A lot of the edits were good, the memo was trimmed up and to the point.  Then came another edit.  I started wondering if all these edits were merely to put it in "auditor's" language or "supervisors" language.  Then my supe sent it to her boss, and another round ensued which, it was said by the supe about the boss, "she wants it in her language."
Very telling.  The world is a mirror after all (and all I see is beautiful people) and probably the truth.  So I made more edits.  Then...it came back again.  Here, today, I am sick of reworking this memo to get it to sound how my supervisor wants it, her boss wants it, and how her boss thinks the Associate Director wants it, who, by the way, will read it over at least once before it goes out and change it into her language, I'm sure.
Also, each time a round of editing comes in, it comes with a request for more data to be included, which means another little write up on the new stuff, which means more editing, which means, more than likely, more requests for extra data.  Apparently they don't have anything for me to do but retype memos.
I think I want to go home.
